  • Objective tinnitus: This tinnitus is due to problems in the blood vessels, or pressure in the muscles of the ear.

Diagnosis of tinnitus

When you go to the doctor, tell him about the medications you are taking, as they may be the direct cause. Then the doctor will examine you clinically and ask you to perform some laboratory tests, to make sure that there are no diseases that require treatment.

In the absence of a health problem, the patient is referred to an ear specialist, who in turn will conduct an MRI for you to detect the presence of problems in the bones of the inner ear, and to follow the appropriate treatment if the main cause of tinnitus is found.

Other than that, do not forget to tell the doctor about your type of work, as it could be the direct cause of tinnitus. Then the doctor will give you some tips to reduce the tinnitus, by wearing an ear protector to reduce the noise.

Tinnitus treatment

Some people wonder how to get rid of tinnitus permanently, but unfortunately there is no definitive treatment for tinnitus, although some effective methods can be followed to relieve persistent tinnitus.

First: Tinnitus is treated by knowing its cause.

  • If it is caused by an ear infection: the patient is given an antibiotic and drops to relieve itching.

  • Ear blockage with wax or gum: The doctor washes the ear with warm medical water.

  • Temporomandibular joint syndrome: referral of the patient to dentistry specializing in the treatment of this disease.

  • Otosclerosis or tumors: these are treated with surgery.

  • Medicines used: The doctor stops or changes them.

Second: If the previous diseases have been treated and the tinnitus continues, then one of the following devices is recommended to the patient as needed:

  1. Hearing aids: Hearing aids are given in case the cause of tinnitus is hearing loss or impairment.
  2. Natural Sounds Device: This device emits wonderful sounds of nature that distract one from tinnitus.
  3. Invisible Earpieces: These units continuously emit quiet sounds that dampen the intensity of the tinnitus.

Third: Use of medicines

Medicines can reduce the severity of tinnitus, but they do not cure it completely. In some cases, antidepressants and sedatives can benefit from persistent and severe tinnitus.

One study says that misoprostol has a strong effect in relieving persistent tinnitus in some people.
